File Cover Help

File Cover allows you to hide your images from the normal gallery.

You can choose pictures from any category, including the camera or downloaded images.

Once hidden, you can view them in File Cover's built-in viewer.

** IMPORTANT: Please test this app with some unimportant pics first.

Make sure you are satisfied that you can hide and unhide pics with your phone and type of memory card. **

Although this app is throughly tested it cannot be guaranteed that every phone manufacturer will implement all versions of the Android operating system in exactly the same way.

File Copy

You can use the new File Copy function to arrange pictures in the Android visible gallery.

This allows you to arrange your visible pictures into new folder names.

This can be the default screen when File Cover is launched - enable the checkbox in Preferences. (Once launched, you can get back to the normal app by pressing Menu then the pretend option Copy System Files.)

Videos

You can also now hide videos. You can mute the audio, view portrait and landscape, as well as organise into folders. Long-press on a folder to play all the videos inside.

If your phone's Android version is earlier than Version 2 (Eclair) you will not be able to see image thumbnails in the list of videos.

You can still organise videos by folder and then rename the files to identify them. Long-press on a hidden video to change its name.

Password

You can set a password for the program, so no one else can get access. Press Menu then "Set Password."

Folder Name

You can choose the folder name that hidden images are stored under. Press Menu then Set Folder.

Sub Folders:

You can also now create subfolders when importing images, to organise your collection.

You can adjust the subfolders by long-pressing on the folder name in the list under Browse Images.

Viewing Images

Use the Preferences menu to select whether you initially want to see a Grid or a Sliding-Image Gallery.

Formats

Fc can hide images in these common formats: jpeg, png and gif.

By default, the files are renamed slightly at the end, so that ".jpg" becomes ".jp1" etc. They are changed back when the images are revealed.

You can also now choose to encrypt the files when they are being hidden, by setting this in Preferences.

This changes the file slightly so that they cannot be recognised by any apps such as ones that allow you to view your memory (sd) card.

Moving Back to Normal Gallery

Long press on an image to move it back into a different folder in the normal gallery.

Zoom and Slideshow

You can also view hidden images in Zoom or Slideshow modes.

When viewing a slideshow you can view in portrait or landscape. Tap the screen to pause and unpause the show.

Slide to the Left or Right to move images when paused. You can set the slideshow speed by sliding Up or Down. Press the Back key to stop the show.

In the Preferences menu you choose whether to see the notification bar at the top during Zoom or Slideshow modes.

Filenames

You can also choose whether to make the filenames random when hiding, or just change the file extension at the end.

So a file that was called "my-pic.jpg" could become either "my-pic.jp1" or "143545.jp1."

Password Recovery

If you ever forget your password the recovery procedure is:

First uninstall the app. Then reinstall it so that it forgets your preferences, including your password.

If it says "This was installed before. Use the same folder?" click OK.

Press the back button to close this help page.
